Costs and working with us
How much does interior design cost in Ethiopia?
+
At Duka Interiors, design-only fees start at about 800 ETB per m² for offices and 1,000 ETB per m² for homes. That covers the concept, layouts, material selection and 3D visuals. Building the design is priced separately by material: in 2026, gypsum partitions cost about 3,900–4,500 ETB per m², tempered glass partitions 15,000–17,500 ETB per m², and gypsum false ceilings about 3,600 ETB per m², before VAT. The final price depends on the area, the specification and the site.
How much should I pay for an interior designer?
+
Interior designers in Addis Ababa usually charge per square metre for design, or quote one price for design and build. Design-only suits you if you already have a contractor. Design and build means one team designs and delivers the work, with one contract and one point of contact. Ask any designer what the fee includes: number of layout revisions, 3D visuals, material specifications and site supervision.
What does an office fit-out include?
+
An office fit-out usually includes space planning, partitions (glass, gypsum or acoustic), false ceilings, lighting and electrical points, data cabling, flooring, painting, branding and signage, and furniture. Duka Interiors designs and builds all of these, so you deal with one team from layout to handover.
Do you work on homes and apartments too?
+
Yes. Most of our work is offices, but we also design and finish apartments and homes, including model homes for real estate developers in Addis Ababa.
Where is your office and when can I visit?
+
Our studio is in Bole, Addis Ababa: Djibouti Street, Welela Building, 5th floor, Suite 507. We are open Mon–Sat, 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM. Call ahead and we will show you samples and past projects.
Interior Design
Service details →How much does office interior design cost in Addis Ababa?
+
Our design-only fee starts at about 800 ETB per m² for offices and 1,000 ETB per m² for homes, depending on the project type and level of detail required. It covers space planning, layout revisions, material selection and 3D visuals. Construction is quoted separately, or together if you choose design and build.
What do I receive at the end of the design stage?
+
Floor plans with furniture layout, 3D renders of the key spaces, and a material and finish schedule. Together they are enough for us, or any contractor, to price and build the project.
Can you design around our brand?
+
Yes. We use your logo, colours and values in the materials, lighting and graphics, so visitors recognise your company as soon as they walk in.
Design+Build
Service details →What is design and build?
+
One company designs your space and then builds it. You sign one contract, receive one itemised price and deal with one team, instead of coordinating a designer and separate contractors.
Is design and build more expensive than hiring separately?
+
Usually not. Because the people who design also price and build the work, costs are checked against the design early, and there are fewer surprises once construction starts.
Can you work in an office that stays open?
+
Yes. We plan the work in phases and can schedule noisy work outside office hours, so your team can keep working during the renovation.
Office Partitioning & Furniture
Service details →How much do office partitions cost in Ethiopia?
+
Our 2026 rates in Addis Ababa, before VAT: gypsum board partitions about 3,900–4,500 ETB per m², sound-insulated gypsum about 4,800–5,200 ETB per m², 10 mm tempered or aluminium-framed glass partitions about 15,000–17,500 ETB per m², and double-glazed sound-proof glass from 20,000 ETB per m². Tempered glass doors with hardware are about 32,500–36,000 ETB each.
Glass or gypsum: which partition should I choose?
+
Glass keeps the office bright and open and suits meeting rooms and manager offices. Gypsum is cheaper and gives more privacy and wall space for storage and screens. Most offices use both. Our guide "Glass vs Gypsum Partitions" compares them in detail.
How much does office furniture cost?
+
Typical 2026 prices, before VAT: a 2-seater workstation about 24,000 ETB, a 4-seater about 42,000 ETB, mesh staff chairs about 15,000 ETB, high-back manager chairs about 32,000 ETB, and an executive L-desk about 63,000 ETB. Custom sizes and finishes are quoted per project.
Branding and Signage
Service details →How much does office branding cost?
+
Our 2026 rates, before VAT: logo signs with an acrylic face about 26,000 ETB per m² of sign, frosted film for glass partitions about 1,900 ETB per m², and printed wallpaper about 3,900 ETB per m². Film with your logo or pattern also gives meeting rooms privacy.
Can you put our logo on glass partitions?
+
Yes. We apply frosted or printed film with your logo, patterns or a privacy band. It is cheap to replace if your branding changes.
Technology Integration
Service details →Do you install data cabling and lighting?
+
Yes. We plan data points, power sockets and lighting together with the layout, so cables run inside partitions and ceilings rather than across the floor. Typical 2026 rates, before VAT: CAT6 data points about 2,500–2,950 ETB each, power points about 1,200–1,700 ETB each, and 60×60 LED panels about 4,550–5,400 ETB each.
Can you set up meeting rooms for video calls?
+
Yes. We plan screen positions, cable routes, lighting and acoustic finishes so that video meetings look and sound clear.
Office Renovation & PM
Service details →What does an office renovation include?
+
Usually new partitions, false ceilings, lighting, flooring, painting and furniture. Typical 2026 rates, before VAT: gypsum false ceilings about 3,600 ETB per m², SPC flooring about 2,500 ETB per m², carpet tiles 2,500–8,500 ETB per m² depending on grade, and painting about 325–420 ETB per m².
Who manages the site during the renovation?
+
A Duka site manager runs the work day to day, coordinates suppliers and reports progress to you, so you have one person to call.
